Louanne Picek, age 52 of Virginia died Monday, March 15, 2010 in the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth of cancer. She was born December 8, 1957 in Virginia the daughter of Bill and Beverly (Floyd) Kosmach. Louanne was a 1976 graduate of Virginia High School, a graduate of Mesabi Community College, and the University of Minnesota Duluth with a Master's Degree in Education. She married Gary Picek on June 12, 1982 in Virginia and was a lifelong Virginia resident. Louanne was employed as an Instructor at the Mesabi Range Community and Technical College. She was a very active member of the Virginia United Methodist Church; and a former member of the American Association of University Women. Louanne enjoyed traveling, shopping, and spending time at the family cabin on Long Lake. Louanne will be remembered as caring, loving person who shared so much with others.
Louanne is survived by her husband: Gary; mother: Beverly Kosmach of Virginia; brothers-in-law: John (Linda) Picek of Plymouth and Ron Picek of Virginia; nieces and nephew: Alyssa, Kylie, Wendy, & Kevin; cousins, including: Kay Ryan; and a host of very dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her dad: Bill Kosmach.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until the 4:00 p.m. Funeral Services in the Virginia United Methodist Church. Pastor Brenda King will officiate. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia.
Memorials are preferred.
