Louise Anne Hill, age 95, of Maplewood, MN, and formerly a longtime resident of Hibbing, died quietly Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Lakeview Commons Assisted Living in Maplewood. She was born March 4, 1922, in Dawson, GA, the daughter of James and Estelle (Cook) Lee. She graduated from Fitzgerald High School in Fitzgerald, GA, and went on to attend Martha Berry College where she studied Literature and History. She was united in marriage to Clyde S. "Bunker" Hill on January 18, 1942, in Cartersville, GA.
Louise worked at Security State Bank in Hibbing for more than 20 years – retiring in 1984. The passions of her life were her family, her church, her friends, and her advocacy for the poor and oppressed. As a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church she served as past president of the congregation. She also served on the committees for Hunger and Justice, and was past president of Voyageurs Lutheran Ministries. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, needlepoint, and quilting. She was widely recognized as a mentor and friend to many.
Louise is survived by her son: Paul Gregory (Elaine) Hill of Maplewood, MN; brother: J. T. Jr. (Darlene) Lee of Golden, CO; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Clyde; son: Lee; sisters: Vivian and Dorothy; and brother: Truman.
Visitation will be from 10am until the 11am Memorial Service Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing. The Reverend Kevin Olson will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Hibbing Park "Maple Hill" Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Hill Scholarship Fund at: Wilderness Canoe Base-LWLBC, 738 Hickory Point Ln., Amery, WI, 52004.
