Mae Elina Wuori, age 91, of Eveleth and formerly of Duluth, passed peacefully with her family by her side Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Essentia Health in Virginia, MN. She was born April 13, 1923 in Kettle River, MN the daughter of Frank and Ida Oja. She was united in marriage to Woodrow Wuori in Duluth, MN in 1945.
Mae retired from 25 years of service from the DTA. Her family was her life and she also loved music.
Mae is survived by her daughters, "best friends": Barbara (Gerald) Sullivan of Duluth, and Cheryl (Paul) Thelen of Eveleth; her brother: Harold Oja of Minneapolis; four grandchildren: Wendy (Ross) Pilcher, Jodi (David) Puff, Becky (Jon) Burchett, and Travis (Angela) Reimer; and eight great-grandchildren: Nicholle, Kori-Ann, and Jesse Puff, Lexi and Kayla Reimer, and Cameron, Riley, and Hayley Pilcher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Woodrow; her granddaughter: Mandy Mae; her sister: Aili Keinanen; and eight brothers: Arvo, Eino, Uno, Wilho, Ernest, Niilo, Edwin, and baby John.
We wish to express our appreciation to the excellent and caring staff at Willow Wood where she most recently resided.
Thank you to the staff at Virginia Hospital for their excellent care.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Mae's life will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 3pm at Grace Church in Cloquet, MN. Inurnment will be in the Gilbert Cemetery.
