Marilee Dawn Purrington, age 62, longtime resident of Hibbing, died peacefully in her home on Monday, November 13, 2017, following a 3 ½ year battle with cancer. She was born March 30, 1955, in Ada, MN, the daughter of Leslie and Jean (Hubbell) Ness. She graduated from Ada High School and went on to obtain a degree as a Registered Nurse from St. Luke's School of Nursing. Marilee was united in marriage to Steve Purrington on July 31, 1976 in Ada, MN.

Marilee worked as an RN with the Adams Clinic (now Essentia Health) until her retirement in 2010. She attended the Abundant Life Church in Hibbing. Marilee enjoyed family camping trips to Voyageurs National Park, fishing, spending time with her church friends, her clinic friends, and above all, her grandsons. She was raised in a close, loving family environment and held fast to family and loved them dearly until her death.

Marilee is survived by her husband: Steve; sons: Patrick (Kristen) Purrington of Bemidji, MN, and Matthew (Teresa) Purrington of Cottage Grove, MN; grandsons: Dylan, Logan, Michael, and Andrew; mother: Jean (Roald) Josephson of Ada, MN; brother: Dan (Kim) Ness of Ada, MN, sisters: Pam (Bill) Thompson of Dent, MN, Julie (Brian) Borge of Ada, MN, and Wendy (Jim) Cox of Sarasota, FL; and numerous friends and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her sister: Karen; and her father: Leslie.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday, November 16, 2017, at the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home in Hibbing. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017, at 2 pm at the Grace Lutheran Church in Ada. Pastor Bill Thompson will officiate. A visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
