Marjorie E. Giorgi, 77, longtime resident of Mt. Iron, died Friday, December 30, 2016, at St. Michael's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia. She was born July 28, 1939 in Coleraine, MN, the daughter of Theodore and Agnes (Olin) Haverkost. Marge was united in marriage to the great love of her life, James R. Giorgi, on May 2, 1959, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hibbing. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Marge worked as a homemaker, pouring her boundless energy and intense love into raising 4 children, as well as babysitting neighborhood children, quickly making them a part of her extended family. Building and caring for her family was her pride and joy. She especially enjoyed having fun with her grandchildren, spending time doing whatever they desired. She also loved sports, cheering on the local teams while raising her family, and watching more& more on TV in recent years. She was well known for her quick and contagious smile and her ability to make everyone a friend
Marge is survived by her husband: Jim; her children: Michael (Barb) Giorgi of Red Wing, MN, Robert (Christina) Giorgi of Orlando, FL, Sheri (Brian) Zarn of Mt. Iron, MN, and Tom (Erica) Giorgi of Roseville, MN; her brothers: Larry (Jean) Haverkost of Mendham, NJ, and Vern (Evie) Haverkost of Mt. Iron, MN; her grandchildren: Mark and James Giorgi, Melissa, Sean and Lia Zarn, and Roxanna and Charlotte Giorgi; and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers: Donald, Gerald and Myron Haverkost.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia, with the Memorial Service immediately following at 11:00 am. The Reverend Brandon Moravitz will be the officiant.
