Marjorie Pearsall, age 89 of Virginia, died Sunday, February 15, 2009 in Edgewood Vista in Virginia. She was born March 4, 1919 in Duluth, the daughter of John and Clara (Wieland) Ogg. Marjorie grew up in Duluth, was a graduate of Duluth Central High School, attended Carleton College, and was a graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in Social Work. She married J. Edward Pearsall on June 10, 1947 and they, along with their three children, spent almost all of their married life in Virginia. They were active members of the former First Presbyterian Church and then Hope Community Presbyterian Church for almost 60 years. They and their family and friends enjoyed 40 years together at the family cabin on Crane Lake, of which their surviving family and friends have many fond memories. Upon college graduation, Marjorie worked for St. Louis County as a Social Worker, and after a number of years spent raising her family, she returned to work as Administrator of the Northland Chapter of the American Red Cross. She was active for many years in the American Association of University Women, the Soroptomist Club, School P.T.A.'s, the Virginia Study Club, and with many church activities. One of the most important aspects of her life was her involvement with the Iron Range Chapter of Ex- Prisoners of War.
Marjorie is survived by children, John (Susan) Pearsall of Virginia, Dave (Carole) Pearsall of Phoenix, AZ, and Carol (Phil) Brankin of Villa Park, IL; grandchildren, Chris (Julie Glenz) Pearsall, Sarah (Bob) Lambert, Sam (Mary) Pearsall, Katie (Brian) Brankin, Amy (Ken) Brankin, Phillip Brankin and Thomas Brankin; sister, Charlotte Ogg Garske; nieces and nephews, Cathy Lemay (Richard) Brown, Corinna (Dean) Meyer, Carl (Mary Beth) Garske, and Nancy Pearsall; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed in 1998; and a sister, Ella Wieland.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 20, 2009 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home Chapel in Virginia. Visitation will continue Saturday, February 21st, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service in Hope Community Presbyterian Church in Virginia. Pastor Nathan Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia.
Memorials are preferred and may by directed to Hope Community Presbyterian Church, the American Red Cross, or the Virginia Educational Fund.
