Mark Anthony Gibson, age 59 of Virginia died Friday, March 6, 2015 in the care of the Essentia East Range Hospice Team in his home. He was born November 6, 1955 in Virginia the son of Donald E. and Irene M. (Strom) Gibson, graduated from Gilbert High School and the Eveleth Vocational-Technical College. Mark was raised in Hutter, married Irene Isaacson on August 9, 1980 in Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia, and was a longtime Virginia resident. He was employed as the Lead Service Man for the Virginia Public Utilities, was a member of the AFSCME Union Local 729, and a member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mark was an avid motorcycle rider, enjoyed watching his children's sporting events, and participated and supported Teens Encounter Christ. Mark's greatest love was his family; he cherished every moment spent with them, and especially with his "little man" Liam.
Mark is survived by his wife: Irene; children: Cristina (Brandon) Irons of San Antonio, TX and Anthony (Elizabeth Sommer) Gibson of Minneapolis; grandson: Liam Irons; father: Don Gibson of Greens Ferry, AR; siblings: David Gibson of AZ, Elaine Hartman of Pangburn, AR, and Bart Gibson of Kennewick, WA; mothers-in-law: Eila Isaacson of Virginia and Sharon Larson of St. Louis Park, MN; brother-in-law: Glen (Donna) Isaacson of Bass Lake; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Irene; and brother: Duane.
A Gathering for family and friends will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 3:30 p.m. until the 4:00 p.m. Memorial Service in Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia. Pastor Nathan Sager will officiate.
