Marlys Joan (Ryberg) Maki, age 60 of Iron died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 in the Virginia Convalescent Care Center. She was born September 16, 1950 in Princeton, MN the daughter of Ardner and Hazel (Jenson) Ryberg. She graduated from Cherry High School and went on to receive an Associate's Degree as a Legal Secretary from Mesabi Community College.
Marlys worked as a Kitchen Technician at the Fairview University Medical Center – Mesabi, in Hibbing. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and antiquing.
Marlys is survived by her children: Nick Thiel of Superior, WI, Fred Thiel of Superior, WI, Ken Thiel of Lino Lakes, MN, Tracey Thiel of Iron, MN, and Korey Thiel of Hibbing, MN; ten siblings: Ron (Ruth) Ryberg of Iron, MN, Charlotte Camp of Lino Lakes, MN, Henry (Brenda) Ryberg of Virginia, MN, Marlene (Larry) Clewette of Iron, MN, Vernon (Denise) Ryberg of Eveleth, MN, Vivian (Rusty) Falk of Virginia, MN, Susan (Mike) Tammaro, of Bemidji, MN, Murl (Betty) Ryberg of Leadville, CO, Milen Ryberg of Leadville, CO, and Sandra (Brian) Clausen of Wausau, WI; four grandchildren: Thomas Ritacco, Stephanie Inman, David Thiel, and Dustin Thiel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm memorial service Saturday, June 18, 2011 in the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home Chapel. Bill Bauman will be the officiant. Burial will be at a later date in the Forbes Cemetery.
