Martha Runningwolf, age 57 of Ely and formerly of the Virginia are died Monday, August 19, 2013 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. She was born December 29, 1955 in Laramie, Wyoming. Martha was raised in Laramie until the age of 11, when her mother died and she went the live with her sister Sue Bushor in the Virginia, MN area. She was an artisan, making many kinds of native jewelry, and loved the camp and fish but her real love was getting on a motorcycle and hitting the road, loving the watch sunrises and sunsets. Indian music and the native ways were very important the Martha. Martha resided in the Boundary Waters Care Facility for the last four years.
Martha is survived by a sister: Sue Bushor; brothers: Gary Brown and Steven Brown; daughters: Elizabeth Skarja; sons: Zeph Skarja and Timothy Brown; a grandson: Mathew; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Raymond and Rosalie Brown; a son: John Paul Wyatt; a brother: Russell Brown; and her soul mate: Grizz.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013 in the Bauman Cron Funeral Home Chapel with Greg Anderson as the funeral celebrant.
