Biography Mary Carolyn Berg, age 73, longtime resident of Hibbing died Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in the Shady Knoll Adult Foster care facility in Hibbing. She was born February 8, 1939 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of E. Robert and Millie (Adams) Olson. She graduated from Blackduck High School, and went on to receive her Nurses Aide certification from Range Technical College. She was united in marriage to Van G. Berg on June 22, 1957 in Zion Lutheran Church in Blackduck.
Mary worked as a surgical technician at the Hibbing Hospital. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she served on many of the women's groups. She was a member of The Sons of Norway Midnatsolen Lodge #058, and AFSCME. She will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother.
Mary is survived by her daughters: Kim Berg of Hibbing, Shari (Jim) Erickson of Hibbing, and Susan (Pat) Benfer of Savage, MN; five grandchildren: Kyle, Garrett, and Reed Erickson, and Madeline and Hannah Benfer; two sisters: Eloise Norgren of Rochester, MN, and Jeanette (Cleve) Downey of Bemidji, MN; sisters and brothers-in-law: Janet Olson of Rochester, MN, Doris Olson-Fergusson of Atlanta, GA, Buster (Cheryl) Berg of Anoka, MN, Gordon Berg of Blackduck, MN, David (Diane) Berg of Kelliher, MN, Dick Skerik of Aurora, CO, Florence Berg of Anoka, MN, and Barb Richtsmeier of Babbitt, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Van in 2002; her sister: Lucille; and her brothers: LeRoy, Lyle, Carl, Don, and Billy.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am memorial service Thursday, February 16, 2012 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
