Biography Mary Lassi, 94, of Ely, died Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Ely Bloomenson Hospital and Nursing Home. She was born to Mathew and Jennie(Pogorele) Gorshe on April 7, 1914 in Section 30 near Ely. She married Toimi Lassi on October 14, 1933 and she lived in Ely her entire life.
She is survived and sadly missed by her two sons and daughter: Ralph Lassi of Lakeland,Florida, Ray Lassi of Mounds View, Minnesota., Kathleen(Lassi) Eaton of Sequim, Washington, as well as (8) grandchildren and (12) great-grandchildren, (2) sisters: Jennie (Gorshe) Kastelic of Ely, Ann (Gorshe) Lawrence of Robbinsdale, Minnesota and a step sister Molly (Pogorele) Obluck of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her husband Toimi who died on April 27, 1995, a brother, Albin Gorshe in 2001 and an infant sister Olga who died in 1917.
A memorial service will be held this summer in Ely.
