Mary Katheryn Nasstrom, age 94 of Eveleth, died Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in the Southview Acres Health Care Center in West St. Paul. She was born April 15, 1919 in Eveleth, Minnesota the daughter of Matthew & Johanna (Grad) Zadnikar, was raised in Eveleth, graduated from Eveleth High School, and attended the Eveleth Junior College. On May 5, 1944 she was united in marriage to Brother Algot Nasstrom in Eveleth. Mary enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, blueberry picking, boating, knitting, sewing crocheting, and time spent at the cabin on Murphy Lake.
Mary is survived by daughters: Sandra (Gus) Phillipich of Virginia, and Joan (Arthur) Johnson, and Nanette (Peter) Marsh all of Cottage Grove, MN; siblings: Julie (Paul) Sersha of Virginia and Anthony Zadnikar of Eveleth; grandchildren: Jodi Phillipich, Tammy Johnson, Nicole Talty, Justina Marsh, and Richard Marsh; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Brother Algot Nasstrom in 2000; sisters: Ann Adams and Olga Bass; and her parents.
A Gathering time for family and friends will be held Sunday, August 25, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. Memorial service in the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home in Virginia. Judy Peliska S.A.M. will officiate. Inurnment will take place in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
