Maurice Edward LaTendresse, age 100, a lifelong resident of Hibbing, died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Heritage Manor Health Care Center in Chisholm. He was born November 3, 1913 in Lake Linden, Michigan, the son of Mose and Lucy (Galipeau) LaTendresse. Maurice attended Hibbing schools and was a WWII veteran of the United States Army serving in India. On August 25, 1954 Maurice married Emily Klakoski in Fargo, North Dakota. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Hibbing. Maurice was employed by US Steel - Minntac working in the warehouse for 36 years, retiring in 1977. He loved his hobby farm, working in the yard, carpentry, woodworking, and gardening.
Maurice is survived by his wife of 59 years: Emily; children: John (Kathy) Wrobel of Nashwauk, Patricia (Terry) Martin of Fresno, CA, Alberta Smith of Sun City, AZ, Edward (Gayle) LaTendresse of Hibbing, Alan LaTendresse of Hibbing, and Renae (Doug) Rajkovich of Blaine, MN; nine Grandchildren; fourteen Great-Grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and three sisters.
A private Family Mass will be held. Reverend Father Gabriel Waweru will be the celebrant. Spring Inurnment will take place in the Hibbing Park – Maple Hill Cemetery.
