Michael Charles Bane, age 54 of Virginia, died unexpectedly Friday, September 14, 2018 at Virginia Essentia Health. He was born November 22, 1963 in Virginia, the son of Peyton and Ellen (Korpela) Bane. After graduating from Virginia High School, Michael obtained a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Bemidji State University. He moved to Hastings, Minnesota where he started a family and had a career as a Deputy Sheriff for Dakota County. Michael recently returned to the Iron Range.

Michael is survived by children: Ryan Bane of Plymouth, Derek Bane of Eagan, and Sarah Bane of Duluth; siblings: David Papin of Virginia and DeEtta (Mel) Annala of Gilbert; extended family and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and his canine companion, Coffee.

His immediate family will be holding a private service.
