Mildred (Millie) Marie Finney died peacefully on April 12th surrounded by her loving family at the age of 85. She was born on September 6, 1931, in Duluth Minnesota. She was the daughter of Hjalmer and Selma (Kalio Kurssi) Bloom.

Millie graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1949. She married the love of her life, Herbert Galen Finney on May 4, 1951, together raising 4 daughters and 1 son. They were happily married for 57 ½ years, and enjoyed 13 years of retirement in Florida. Millie attended the Hibbing Alliance Church and was a previous member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Hibbing.

Millie was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Foremost in her life, was her love for the Lord. She demonstrated this love by the way she cared unconditionally for her family and friends, as well as others. She was a generous and faithful servant of the Lord, seeing a need and meeting that need. Millie was a blessing to so many and will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her.

Millie spent most of her life as a stay-at-home mom caring for her family. She loved to sew and at one time worked at the House of Fabrics as an assistant manager. She also worked at the Shoprite Grocery Store as a clerk and in the Hibbing and Chisholm Elementary Schools as a Pupil Support Assistant.

Millie is survived by four daughters Gayle (Don) Jepsen of Hibbing and Florida; Lynn Ellefson of Hibbing and Arizona; Kathy (Dan) Grzybowski and Sandy Erickson both of Hibbing; and one son Thomas Finney of Florida. Her grandchildren David (Tara) Jepsen, Brent Jepsen, Melissa Hill, Adam (Dana) Jepsen, Christopher (Trish) Ellefson, Stephanie Ellefson, Brian (Melissa) Grzybowski, Angie (Josh) Weaver, Eric Grzybowski, Matthew (Weez) Erickson, Steven (Maria) Erickson, Tyler and Elijah Finney, 13 great-grandchildren, her sister Dorothy Jennings and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Herb Finney who died in February of 2009, son-in-law David Ellefson, sister Vi Baker, and brothers-in-law Phil Baker and Albert Jennings.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 9:30 am until the 11:00 am Celebration of Life Service at the Hibbing Alliance Church. Interment will follow in the Hibbing Park "Maple Hill" Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the Hibbing Alliance Church or to the Families SCN2A Research Foundation in honor of Millie's great-granddaughter, Amelia Weaver.
