Norma Bernice Brandt, age 87, of Hibbing, died peacefully with family by her side on March 30, 2012, at Guardian Angels Care Center in Hibbing. She was born July 1, 1924, in Hibbing, the daughter of Edwin and Josephine (Nylund) Magestad and was the older of two children. Norma married John Brandt on April 26, 1947. Having a great love of music, Norma spent over 35 years as an organist for Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing, as well as Chapel of the Pines in Side Lake and many community events in the Hibbing area. She was a member of the Sons of Norway Midnatsolen Lodge of Hibbing. In her free time she loved spending time with her family, bake, cross-stitch, and was an avid reader.
Norma is survived by sons: Alan Brandt of Hibbing and James (Carol) Brandt of Chisholm; grandchildren: Kimberly, Carolyn (Steve), Paul (Meghann), and Michael; two great-grandchildren: Devyn and Benjamin; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Lloyd; husband: John; and daughter: Joanne.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Pastor Erik Holleque and Pastor Dan Smith will officiate.
Memorials are preferred and may be directed to Guardian Angels Care Center in Hibbing.
