Obituary


Paul Allen Rich, aka The Preacher, age 75 of Virginia died Thursday, February 21, 2013 in St. Michael's Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 27, 1937 in St. Joseph, MO, the son of Harry W. and Viola (Griffen) Rich. Paul served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1967. After his discharge, Paul returned to St. Joseph, Mo for many years, and was later employed by Erie Mining Company. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Virginia. He loved to dance, enjoyed music and playing the guitar, fishing, travelling, visiting, and cherished time spent with his family.
Paul is survived by children: David Rich of Virginia, Tammy (David) Jasura of Virginia, Allen (Kerry) Rich of Forbes, Brian (Charlotte) Rich of Forbes, and Raymond (Tammy Schellhorn) Rich of St. Joseph, MO; sister: Elsie Edwards of Union Star, MO; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Joanna Rich (Bays); and siblings: Vidy Griffen, Walter Rich, and Earl Rich.
A Gathering Time for Family and Friends will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. Memorial Service in the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home Chapel in Virginia. Pastor Don Norr will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Buchanan County, MO.
