Obituary


Paul Gene Tuominen, age 80, longtime resident of Hibbing died Monday, September 17, 2018 at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. He was born March 31, 1938 in Hibbing the son of Einar and Olga (Moilanen) Tuominen. He was united in marriage to Janice Mae Ekeberg in Fosston, MN in 1960.


Paul worked as a pipefitter & welder, and was an instructor for Local 589 – retiring in 1986. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, and he enjoyed fishing, playing smear with his friends, watching the Vikings, working in his garage, and golf.


Paul is survived by his wife: Janice; children: Paula (Dean) Durham of Kennewick, WA, and Eric (Lynn) Tuominen of Cannon Falls, MN; sisters: Flora Mackebon of Kennewick, WA, and Joyce Nelson of Keewatin, MN; half-brother: Wesley (Carol) Anderson of Little Swan, MN; half-sister: Sheila (Greg) Schweiger of Hibbing, MN; grandson: Paul (Kylee) Durham; and two great-grandsons: Ryland and Wyatt.


He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father: George Garrison; and brother: Norman Anderson.


A private service was held with burial in the Hibbing Park "Maple Hill" Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to First Lutheran Church or the donor's choice.


Paul's family wishes to extend a special thanks to the caregivers and the aides at Guardian Angels who made him smile.


Family services were provided by Anderson-Daniels, a Bauman Family Funeral Home, in Hibbing.
