Obituary

Phyllis Marconett, age 88 of Virginia died Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at her home with her devoted family by her side. She was born November 12, 1922 in Warroad, MN the daughter of Howard and Constance (Morris) Stoltz and raised in Virginia. Phyllis was a 1940 graduate of Virginia High School. On March 16, 1946 Phyllis married E. Lee Marconett and was a longtime Virginia resident. Phyllis has worked as a waitress in Milwaukee, WI, a cab driver during WWII, a bookkeeper, and for Montgomery Wards and Sears. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Virginia, Past Worthy Matron of the Star of the East Chapter #210 0f the Order of Eastern Star, and was an active Council Member of the Bethel #6 of the International Order of Jobs Daughters. Phyllis was addicted to knitting, and enjoyed bridge, and bingo. In retirement, she served hot dogs at Iron Trail Motor's many special events. Phyllis was renowned for her pasty making and her statewide pasty fund-raisers. She truly cherished the company of family and friends and created many memories at the family cabin on Lake Vermilion. Friends and acquaintances looked forward to her potica cakes at Christmas.
Phyllis is survived by her husband: Lee; children: DeEtta Sue Marconett of Bloomington, MN and Lee Howard (Julie) Marconett of Virginia; grandchildren: Caleb (Kristy) Marconett of Waverly, MN and Tricia (Matthew) Scott of Raleigh, NC; great grandsons: Ryan Marconett and Brogan Scott; sister: DeEtta Bertucci of Fayal Twp; sister-in-law: Lucille Stoltz of Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews, cousin, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers: Francis, Clifford, Howard, Melford, and Edward Stoltz.
Visitation will begin Sunday, August 21, 2011 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home Chapel in Virginia. Visitation will continue Monday, August 22, 2011 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service in Emmanuel Baptist Church in Virginia. The Reverend John Cowan will officiate.
Memorials are preferred.
