Obituary

Biography Phyllis Joanne Stanzell, age 74 of Virginia died Monday, May 16, 2011 in the Virginia Regional Medical Center. She was born January 18, 1937 in Atikokan, Ontario the daughter of Tony and Maria Albert. Phyllis married Wesley Howard "Howie" Stanzell on June 15, 1957 in Atikokan and were longtime residents there. They moved to Virginia in 1974. Phyllis worked at J.C. Penney's and Herbergers and was a homemaker. She was an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and the Red Hat Society in Arizona. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, gardening, and travelling. Phyllis was an avid reader, an excellent cook and baker whose pies were second to none. She cherished time spent with her family and their family dinners will always be a fond memory.
Phyllis is survived by children: Joanne (Michael) Koski of Andover, MN, Wes (Wendy) Stanzell of Virginia and Doug Stanzell of Virginia; brothers: Largo (Pearl) Albert of Lively, Ont. And Joe Albert of Kelowna, B.C.; a brother-in-law: Andy Pope of Edmonton, Alberta and a sister-in-law: Audrey Williams; grandchildren: Krista (Ryan) McVann, Alyssa Koski, Dan Stanzell, and Sara Stanzell; a great-granddaughter: Grace McVann; and numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Howie, and sister: Alice Pope.
A gathering time for family and friends will be held Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Mass in Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Virginia.
Memorials are preferred.
