Raymond A. Plantz, 92, Ely, passed away at his residence on Saturday, February 7, 2009. Ray was born September 22, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois to Arnold and Bertha (Lang) Plantz. Ray entered the U.S. Navy the day after Pearl Harbor and served through the end of the war. His entire working career was as an electrical engineer in the television industry. Most people will remember Ray as an artist, his paintings won numerous awards and competitions and can be found on the walls of many homes in the Ely area. He is survived by his son: Raymond(Jayne) Plantz Jr. of Ely, daughter: Pamela (Terry) Murphy of Phoenix, Arizonia, (9) grandchildren and (11) great-grandchildren.
