Raynold Carlson, age 97 of Hibbing, died Saturday, October 29, 2016 in Guardian Angel's Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born May 31, 1919 in Pool Location, the son of Charles and Ida (Erickson) Carlson. And was a 1938 graduate of Hibbing High School. He married Sylvia Alto on January 31, 1948 in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hibbing, and was a longtime Hibbing resident. Raynold served in the United States Army during WWII and was captured by German forces during the Battle of the Bulge. He was employed by the Great Northern and the Burlington Northern Railroads as an Operator and owned and operated the Giant Wash Laundromat in Virginia with his wife, Sylvia. Raynold was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the National Association of Railroad Employees, DAV, POW, VFW, and the Hibbing Senior Citizen's Tourist Center. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Raynold is survived by son-in-law: Brian Wilson; grandson: David Scott Wilson; several nieces and nephews, including special niece: Linda (Paul) Sundquist of Apple Valley, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Sylvia; daughter: Carlene Wilson; Grandson: Keith Brian Wilson; and two brothers.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 12 Noon. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service at the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home in Hibbing. Pastor Brian Birk will officiate. Interment will be in the Hibbing Park – Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
