Rebecca Mae (Aase) Ketola
Age 82, passed away February 18 after living with ovarian cancer for two years. She was born on November 14, 1928 in Virginia, MN. She grew up on a farm at Bass Lake and graduated from Virginia High School. She attended Florida State University in Tallahassee and shared many wonderful stories about performing in the college circus. Becky worked in publicity for Virginia Regional Medical Center then started up a 'cottage' industry making pillows from home at Lake Vermilion.
One of Becky's passions was community theatre. She loved it and did a little of everything including sewing, tickets, advertising and even directing, most recently producing "Dinner With Dickens". Becky was an artist at heart and enjoyed watercolor painting as well as taking classes with her pals at the Greenwood Fire Hall. Over the years she also loved to travel; by plane, car or even on the back of a motorcycle.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry H. Ketola, children Carrie (Ted) Lewis, Katherine (Mike) Lapic, Harold (Lori) Ketola, and Alan Ketola. Grandchildren: Rebecca (Dan) Zubich, Amanda (Mark) Peaslee, Leah Lapic, Maia Lapic, Abby Lewis, Krista Lapic, Keith Ketola, Kelly Ketola. Siblings: twin brother George (Myrtle) Aase of Atlanta, and sister Donah (Wallace) Sten of Gilbert.
Preceded in death by parents Georgia Mae Aase and Harold Aase, and brother James Aase.
We will all miss her mischievous, sparkling eyes, delightful humor and her loving kindness. To all her family and friends, we hope you will remember her sitting in the sunshine on the deck, overlooking beautiful Lake Vermilion.
