Reuben August Graber, age 88 of Hibbing died Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in the Fairview University Medical Center – Mesabi. He was born November 27, 1922 in Pomroy Township, Minnesota, the son of John and Pauline (Zellman) Graber. Reuben married Winifred Osterdyk on October 23, 1946 in Mora, MN. He farmed until 1948, worked construction for about a year, and worked for the creamery in Quamba, MN prior to moving to the Iron Range in 1953. Reuben was employed by the Mahoning Mine, worked in Greenland from 1958 to 1959, then worked for Reserve Mining Company and Eveleth Taconite, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing and had served on the Church Council. Reuben enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He was an avid baseball fan, liked watching sports, and spending winters in Florida. Reuben was known for hearty laugh.
Reuben is survived by his wife of 65 Years: Winnie; sons: Tom (Sue) Graber of Chisholm, Ron (Juanita) Graber of Rochester, Glenn (Betsy) Graber of Hibbing and Keith (Tracy) Graber of Lindstrom; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Norma Barn; brother: John Graber, Jr; and an infant daughter.
A Gathering Time for family and friends will be held Monday, November 28, 2011 from 12 Noon until the 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Pastor Eric Holleque will officiate. Spring inurnment will be held in the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora, MN.
