Richard Frank Marty, age 74, longtime resident of Hibbing and formerly of Minneapolis, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, in his home. He was born July 3, 1937, in Grey Eagle, MN, the son of Edward and Marion (Berg) Marty. He attended school in Upsala, MN and at Brown Institute where he studied business and sales. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Schedin on January 22, 1977, in Las Vegas.
Richard worked as a salesman; he was co-owner of the Open Pit Supper Club, and owner of Oil-Tech Laboratories. He was a member of the Hibbing Elks Club where he served on the house committee. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and smoking meats.
Richard is survived by his wife: Kathleen; six children: Richard (LuAnn) Marty of Ham Lake, MN, Lori (Jay) Nelson of Marana, AZ, Darby (Rebecca) Marty of East Bethel, MN, Darren (Paula) Marty of Coon Rapids, MN, Gerald (Laurel) Schedin of Andover, MN, and Gary Schedin of Ham Lake, MN; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister: Rita Dawson of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son: Richard Schedin.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Memorial Service Thursday, June 21, 2012 in the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel. Charles Zidich will officiate.
