Obituary

Richard R. Mattson, age 75 of Virginia and formerly of Roseau, died Sunday, July 26, 2009 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. He was born September 28, 1933 in Virginia the son of Oscar and Fern (Pfarr) Mattson. He graduated from Roseau High School, and was married to Mary Amundson on August 8, 1959 in Roseau.
Richard worked as a Bridge Construction Inspector for the State of Minnesota, retiring in 1997. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Richard is survived by his wife: Mary; two daughters: Debra (Craig) Aldrich of Rochester, MN, and Donna (Albert) Sachs of Chippewa Falls, WI; two grandchildren: Justin and Kali Aldrich; a sister: Betty (George) Matranga of Missoula, MT; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother: Irene; and his brother: Joseph Mattson.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Memorial Service Wednesday, July 29, 2009 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Virginia. Pastor Robert Simensen will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Greenwood Cemetery.
