Richard Paul Obidowski, age 84 of Eveleth, died Sunday, April 12, 2026 at St. Mary's Essentia Hospital in Duluth. He was born on June 8, 1941 to Frank and Alice (Trygg) Obidowski in Virginia. He was a 1960 graduate of Cook High School. After high school, Dick served in the U.S. Navy, and then married Carol Sue Julian on May 9, 1964 in Chesapeake, Virginia. They moved to Fayal Township where he and Carol have lived ever since.
Dick worked for Hill's Box Factory and then became a member of the Plumbers and Fitters Local # 589. He worked for Virginia Plumbing and Heating for 18 years before purchasing the business. He became the owner and operator for 20 years, retiring in 2004.
Dick attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Midway, was a member of the Virginia Lodge, 264 AF & AM, Pratt Volden American Legion #239 of Eveleth, Crellin-Tini VFW # 1113 of Virginia, and DAV #23. He played cards every Wednesday, liked to collect and restore vintage snowmobiles, especially Raiders and Mantas, and was a caretaker, mowing grass for the Veteran's Monument in Virginia.
He is survived by his wife: Carol Sue of Fayal Township; Children: Priscilla (Michael ) Marolt of White Bear Lake, MN, and Bradley Obidowski of Lincoln, NE; Brother: Arthur (Linda) Obidowski of Lake St. Croix Beach, MN; and Grandchildren: Michael (Krista) Marolt, Nicholas Marolt, Jack Obidowski, Jared Obidowski, and Jaci Obidowski; Great-grandchildren: Matthew and Natalie and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers: James and Gary.
A Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and last until the 11:00 am Memorial Service on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home in Virginia. Bill Bauman will officiate. Military Honors will follow and inurnment will be at the Gilbert Cemetery.
