Obituary

Richard Lee "Dick" Tracy age 75 of Canyon died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. He was born May 26, 1936 in Minneapolis, MN the son of James and Ruth (Thompson) Tracy. Dick married Marjorie Kennen on June 4, 1955 in Meadowlands and was a longtime Canyon area resident. He worked as a logger in the early years and then went to work for Ulland Brothers as a heavy equipment operator. Dick and his twin brother Donald were the oldest members of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Canyon. Dick wintered in Apache Junction for many years and enjoyed tinkering with equipment. He was the founder of Tracy Excavating, a retired member of the 49'ers International Union of Operating Engineers, and enjoyed spending time with his dog, Bandit.
Dick is survived by a son: Bryan (Donna) Tracy of Meadowlands, daughters: Jean (Mike) Paulson of Zim and Terry (Scott) Christopherson of Virginia; twin brother: Donald (Shirley) Tracy of Canyon, half brother: Peter (Barb) Moe of Washburn, ND; grandchildren: Tracy, Scott, Joseph, Justin, Kendall, Ryan, Kimberly, Brent, Brady, and Bryanne; great-grandchildren: Renee, Lindsay, Aaron, Megan, Ethan, Kacie, Phaedra. Harmony, and Brennan; Special Friend: Dorothy "Dottie" Faith of Apache Junction; numerous nieces, and nephews including a special niece: Linda Molloy; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 ½ years: Marjorie; brother: James Tracy; and stepsister: Ardith Schmutzer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2011 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Canyon. Pastor Larry Anderson will officiate.
