Robert W. "Bill" Mannila, age 82, lifelong resident of Hibbing died peacefully Thursday, August 26, 2010 in his home. He was born November 1, 1927 in Superior, WI. He was the son of Matt and Hannah Mannila. He attended Hibbing Schools, and was united in marriage to Lorraine Loween on October 15, 1949 in Hibbing.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Bill was stationed in the Philippines. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for National Steel for 46 years.
Bill is survived by three daughters: Karen (James) Scott of Sarasota, FL, Connie (Michael) Seehorn of Salem, OR, and Carol (Steve) Kopelciw of Hibbing; six grandchildren: Anthony Scott, William Scott, Jennifer Scott, Shawn Seehorn, Ashley Kopelciw, and Brittany Kopelciw; and two great-grandchildren: Madison and Bristol.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Lorraine in 1992; and his stepbrother: Alfred.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the 1:00 pm service Monday, August 30, 2010 in the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. John Dietz will officiate. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
