Robert "Bob" John Zelinski, age 70, lifelong resident of Hibbing passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, in Hospice care at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by family. Bob was born on December 22, 1946, in Hibbing, MN, the son of Severt "Jack" and Alvira (Sherman) Zelinski. Bob graduated from Hibbing High School in 1965. On July 15, 1967, Bob married his childhood best friend, Joan Hyatt. In 1966, Bob enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. After his service, Bob worked in the iron mines and later was employed by the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church and Victory Christian Academy School as the custodian. "Janitor Bob" had the privilege of being part of the lives of the many students and teachers while working at VCA.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Joan Zelinski; along with children: Daniel (Christina Sacco) Zelinski of Overland Park, KS, and Karin (Steve) Erickson of Hibbing, MN; his grandchildren: Zachary Zelinski, Sofia Zelinski, Peter Erickson, Brenna Erickson, and Eli Erickson; one brother: Eugene (Marge) Zelinski of Byron, GA; and one sister: Janice Vandenheuval of Forest Lake, MN; cherished "inherited parents": Patrick, Sr. (Barb) Geiselman of Hibbing, MN; his puggle "Frannie"; plus numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Bob will be remembered for his love of family, fishing, hunting, his passion for guns, boats, motors, and the hobby of wheeling & dealing. Bob was a wonderful provider for his family and an incredible Papa to his grandkids. Bob loved Christmas. It was common to see his Christmas tree up in October. This year Bob will be celebrating Christmas in heaven with his parents who preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 12:00 noon Funeral Service Friday, October 27, 2017, at the Hibbing Alliance Church. Steve Tomberlin will officiate. Interment will be in the Hibbing Park "Maple Hill" Cemetery.
