Robertson Marshall Skare, age 53, of Lake Vermilion and formerly of Golden Valley, Hopkins, and Duluth, MN, died Friday, June 1, 2012 in his home with family at his side. He was born October 19, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Robert and Marilyn (Hutchinson) Skare. He graduated from Golden Valley High School, received his AA from Golden Valley Lutheran College, and took courses at the University of Wisconsin – Stout in Resort Management.
Robb worked as a data entry clerk for the Ebenezer Society, and at the Westhaven Resort, a family business on Lake Vermilion. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Soudan. As a youth Robb was active in the YMCA Indian Guides, and worked as camp staff at the YMCA's Camp Warren in Eveleth. He was an avid fisherman – "champ of the family"- boasting catches of a 9-1/2 lb Walleye and a 19" Crappie from the Boundary Waters area.
Robb is survived by his parents: Bob and Marilyn Skare of Lake Vermilion; three brothers: Randalph (Debb) Skare of Savage, MN, Rodger (Karin) Skare of Eagan, MN, and Rev. Richard (Kristin) Skare of St. Michael, MN; nine nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Hutchinson; and his paternal grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Martin Samuel Skare.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Service Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Soudan. The Reverends Berhanu Alengo and Rick Skare will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
