Roger Norman Carpenter, age 73 of Hibbing died Thursday, May 10, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 8, 1944 in Hibbing, the son of Clifford and Anna (Mattson) Carpenter, Sr. and was a graduate of Hibbing High School. Roger married Linda Schloesser on March 20, 1965 they lived in Minneapolis prior to returning to Hibbing in 1971. He was employed as a machinist while in Minneapolis and was the parts coordinator for Langer Equipment for many years. Roger was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing, the Hibbing Elks Lodge, enjoyed softball, golf, bowling, broomball, and he coached hockey. He also was an avid outdoorsman liking to hunt, fish; he played cards; was a race car driver racing in Hibbing and Grand Rapids; and tried out for the Minnesota Twins, twice.

Roger is survived by his wife of 53 years: Linda; children: Tony (Carolyn) Carpenter, Terri (Donny) Frider, and Tamie (Dan) Lubovich all of Hibbing and Todd (Danette) Carpenter of Side Lake; grandchildren: Claire, Katie, Cody, Megan, Jessica (Tristan) Andrew, Abigail, Lydia, Gavin and Benson; great-grandchildren: Addison and Alex; siblings: Sharon (Corey) Schloesser, Linda (Alan) Vine, Duane (Brenda) Carpenter, and John (Beth) Carpenter all of Hibbing, Nancy (Jim) Dowding of Rapid City, SD and Jeanne (Ron) Aumann of Neillsville, WI; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Clifford Carpenter, Jr.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May19, 2018 in the Fellowship Hall of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing.

Private family inurnment will take place in the Hibbing Park Columbarium.
