Ronald A. "Tuppy" Belanger, age 88, longtime resident of Hibbing died peacefully at his home Sunday, June 7, 2015, with family at his side. He was born April 28, 1927, in Fort Francis, Ontario, the son of Octave "Joe" and Rosie (Rivord) Belanger. A veteran of the US Army, Tuppy served in the Aleutian Islands during WWII. Tuppy was united in marriage to Patricia Jean Lovejoy on August 28, 1948, in St. Thomas Church in International Falls.
Tuppy worked as a Pipefitter and was a 60-year member of Union Local # 589. He retired in 1991. Tuppy was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church in Hibbing as well as the Knights of Columbus, and the Eagle's Club in Hallock, MN. He dearly loved spending time with his family, and wondering "if the poor people are having this much fun, I wonder what the rich people are doing?".
Tuppy is survived by four Children: Mary (Jim) Floe of Ashland, WI, Patsy (Greg) Galatz of Hibbing, Keith (Leslie) Belanger of Hibbing, and Wayne (Karla) Belanger of Pengilly, MN; a daughter-in-law: Georgia Belanger of Chisholm; a sister: Harriet Ensrud of Folsom, CA; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Pat (2013), his son: Ronny; five brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the 11:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Reverend Fr. Gabriel Waweru will be the Celebrant. Interment will be in the Hibbing Park "Maple Hill" Cemetery.
