Rose Elizabeth Rynes, age 90 of Mt. Iron died Saturday, January 10, 2009 in the Virginia Convalescent Care Center. She was born February 15, 1918 in Mt. Iron the daughter of Michael and Polona (Glavich) Buria and was a 1936 graduate of Mt. Iron High School. Rose married William "Bill" Rynes on August 22, 1943 in Mt. Iron and was a lifelong resident of Costin Addition-Mt. Iron until moving to Westgate Addition – Mt. Iron in 1978. She attended the Duluth School of Beauty in 1938 and was a licensed cosmetologist until the late 1970's. She was a supervisor at the Cluett Peabody Shirt Factory and developed a new method of attaching cuffs to shirts. Rose was a clerk at the Mt. Iron Post Office retiring in 1985. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Iron. Rose enjoyed giving of her time in volunteer activities which included: Meals on Wheels, RSVP, AEOA Food Share, Mt. Iron and Virginia Senior Citizens Clubs, Mt. Iron Civic Association, the Mt Iron Legion Auxiliary, The Mt. Iron Study Club, and the Mt. Iron Sewing Circle. She was a fantastic baker and cook, and avid gardener, and enjoyed making things and teaching others handwork skills in knitting, crocheting, sewing, and crafts.
Rose is survived by a son: Bruce Rynes of Mt. Iron; daughter: Marilyn (John Baskerville) of Wyoming, MN; brothers: Stephen (Agnes) Buria of Eveleth and William (Gertrude) Buria of Mt. Iron; a sister-in-law: Rose "Odie" Buria of Colusa, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill; a sister: Polona Buria and brothers: Michael, Edward, and Frank Buria.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 5 pm until 7 pm with a 6:30 pm Rosary in the Bauman Cron Funeral Home Chapel in Virginia. Visitation will continue Wednesday, January 14th from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Iron. Reverend Father Lourdes will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Virginia.
