Rudolph Ralph "Rudy" Robich, age 78 of Ely died Saturday, January 31, 2009 in his home. He was born August 23, 1930 in Ely, the son of Joe and Mary (Zima) Robich, attended Ely Schools, and was a Veteran of the Korean War. Rudy married Nellie Ann Thompson on September 21, 1956 in Ely. He was employed as a logger, a heavy equipment operator for Reserve Mining Company and St. Louis County, raised cattle, and farmed. Rudy was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the S.N.P.J. Lodge, and the Ely VFW Post # 2717.
Rudy is survived by his ex-wife: Nellie of Ely; children: Rudy Robich, Jr. of Martin, SD, Paul Robich of Ely and Bonnie Robich of Ely; grandchildren: Brandie & Christopher Robich and Stacy, Daniel, & Melissa Jauhola; great-grandchildren: Brittany, Nickolas, Eathen, Simon, & Preston; a sister: Angie Barich of Ely; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Frank Robich and Joe Robich, Jr.; and a sister: Ann Skraba
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Ely. Deacon Greg Hutar will officiate. Spring inurnment will be in the Ely Cemetery.
