Ruth Gertrude Mrja, age 85, lifelong resident of Hibbing, died Monday, April 4, 2011 in the Fairview University Medical Center – Mesabi. She was born August 13, 1925 in North Hibbing, the daughter of Otto and Greta (Michaelson) Peuha. She graduated from Hibbing High School. Ruth was united in marriage to Sam Mrja in 1943 in Hibbing.
Ruth was a homemaker and an unselfish, loving mother whose greatest happiness was raising her family. She was a member of St. Michael's Serbian Orthodox Church, the VFW Post 8510 Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Ruth is survived by her daughters: Marilyn (Richard) Seeler of Eden Prairie, MN, JoAnne (Allen) Kampf of Ironton, MN, Karen L. Mrja of St. Cloud, MN, Ellen Mrja (Stephen Moline) of Mankato, MN, Dianne (Michael) Richards of Hibbing, MN, and Christine (Carl) Kopp of St. Croix Falls, WI; grandchildren: Todd Kampf, Jennifer Jensen, Britta Moline, Ryan Richards, Leeanne Richards, Benjamin Kopp, and Katherine Kopp; great-grandchildren: Owen Jensen and Andrew Jensen; special cousin Martin Peuha; and other dear family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam; and her brother, Stan Peuha.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the 10:00 am funeral service Saturday, April 9, 2011 at St. Michael's Serbian Orthodox Church in Hibbing. The Reverend Father Tim Sas will officiate. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
