Sadie M. Collier, age 94 of Hibbing, died peacefully July 18, 2011 with her grand daughter, Sandy, caregiver Michelle Buckwitz and daughter, Gail, at her side at Home Sweet Home where she lived and was well taken care of for last three years. She was born February 18, 1917 in Hibbing the daughter of August and Fannie (Huusko) Juntunen. She attended Hibbing schools and graduated from Hibbing High School in 1935.
Sadie married Milton E. Mattson on April 17, 1937 and they lived in Pool Location and Kelly Lake. She retired from St. Louis County after 23 years of employment. Sadie married Weldon C. Colllier on Sept. 12, 1981. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Hibbing and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW 1221.
Sadie is survived by her son Gary (Barbara) Mattson of Blaine, MN; a daughter Gail Komula of Hibbing, a granddaughter Sandra Komula of Green Valley, AZ and a great grandson David T. Komula of Tucson, AZ, a stepson Curtis (Annella) Collier of Hibbing, a stepdaughter Sandra (Thomas) Jasko of Maple Lake, MN and eight step grandchildren; three nieces: Arlene Meadows, White Bear Lake, Kathy Kurszewski, Menomonee Falls, WI, Jeri Sanders, Iron Mountain, MI and one nephew, Bill (Donna) Juntunen, Hibbing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Milton on June 17, 1960, and a brother, Eino Juntunen; sisters Syrie Haben of Iron Mountain, Michigan and Signe Werman of Hibbing, MN; a grandson, David Gary Komula of Hibbing, MN on Jan. 2, 1984 and her second husband Weldon Collier on July 15, 2006.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 22, 2011 from 12 Noon until the 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Pastor Erik Holleque will officiate. Interment will follow in the Hibbing Park – Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing
Memorials are preferred.
