Sally June Wiinanen, age 87, of Hibbing and formerly of Sturgeon Lake and Cherry, died Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Aspen Grove Assisted Living in Chisholm. She was born November 4, 1929, in Hibbing the daughter of Carl and Elsie (Blixt) Bispala. She graduated from Hibbing High School. She was united in marriage to Reino Wiinanen on June 25, 1949, in Hibbing.

Sally was a homemaker and the owner of Sally's Bridal Fashions in Cherry. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hibbing where she taught Sunday school. She was an artist, seamstress, and enjoyed bowling, gardening, and ice skating.

Sally is survived by her children: Beth (John) Carpenter of Hibbing, Paul (Caren) Wiinanen of Maple Grove, MN, and Lisa (Larry) Ollila of Blaine, MN; brother: Charles (Virginia) Bispala of Dunsmuir, CA; sister: Carol Maki of Esko, MN; sister-in-law: Helmi Packa of Cherry; grandchildren: Tera (Mike) Olson, Travis (Jen) Carpenter, Talia (Dan) Sandys, Bobbi (Ben) Lastovich, Rachel Wiinanen, Jane (Aaron) Nienaber, and Paul (Kris) Ollila; great-grandchildren: Ruby, Lily, Evan, Elise, and Ashlynn; and numerous extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Reino in 2015; and her great-granddaughter: Gracie in 2016.

Visitation will be from 6-8pm Sunday, September 17, 2017, at the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home in Hibbing. Visitation will continue Monday, September 18, 2017, from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service at the First Baptist Church in Hibbing. The Reverend Greg Stevens will officiate. Interment will be in the Cherry Cemetery.
