Shane Richard Meehan, age 38 of New Philadelphia, Ohio and formerly of Soudan, Minnesota died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 of a massive heart attack. He was born September 2, 1972 in Virginia, MN the son of James P. and Donna Mae (Brekke) Meehan. Shane grew up in Soudan, moved to Northfield, MN in 1995 and lived there until moving to New Philadelphia, Ohio last fall. He was employed as a union carpenter, and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Soudan, MN. Shane was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, and he loved shooting pool and playing cards. He was a hardworking, fun loving man with a huge heart and great sense of humor. Shane would help anyone in need, was a man of determination, and loved his family dearly.
Shane is survived by his son: Jordan Meehan of Northfield, MN; father: James Meehan of Soudan, significant other: Alice Camper of New Philadelphia, OH; siblings: Joy (Chuck) Corum of Knoxville, TN, Tracie Hellerud of Fridley, MN, Patrick (Dawn) Meehan of Inver Grove Heights, MN, and Darcie (Robert Strand) Meehan of Cook, MN; nieces and nephews: Corrine Emery, Andrea (B.J.) Rainaldi, Jeremy (Melissa) Emery, Mitchell Jay Meehan, Casey Meehan, Naomi (Ryan) Proctor, Trinity Meehan, Jessica Meehan, and Shay Robinson; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Donna, and brother: Mitch Meehan.
A Gathering time for family and friends will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2011 from 12 Noon until the 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service in Bauman's Vermilion Funeral Home. Pastor Leroy Holmes will officiate. Following the service a luncheon will be served in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Soudan.
