Sharon Lea Kvilvang, age 77, longtime resident of Hibbing and formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN died Friday, April 04, 2014, in her home with family at her side. She was born May 15, 1936, in Audubon, MN the daughter of Eivind and Myrtle (Kohler) Ode. She moved to Lake Park, MN with her parents in 1948, where she graduated from Lake Park High School in 1953. She worked at the Detroit State Bank for a period of time.
Sharon was united in marriage to Donald Kvilvang on September 25, 1954, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Audubon, where she and her family were members. They lived in Detroit Lakes where their four children were born. She moved to Hibbing in 1968 with her family, where she again worked in the banking industry, was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hibbing, later joining Grace Lutheran Church in Chisholm, again as an active member enjoying Ladies Bible Studies and couples Home Bible Studies. She served on the Stewardship Committee and was president of the Ladies Guild.
Her family was her main joy, and she enjoyed entertaining over the years, cooking, baking, friends, neighbors, reading, watching the Twins baseball games, her Grandson's hockey games, and her grandchildren's school and Church programs, and before her stroke her favorite pastime was playing the Piano.
Sharon is survived by her husband: Donald; her children: Nancy (Robert) Weatherup of Minneapolis, Sheila Kvilvang of St. Paul, MN, Susan (Jason) Taylor of Chisholm, MN, and Joel (Cindy) Kvilvang of Grand Rapids, MN; her siblings: LaVonne (Donald) Askelson of Lake Park, MN, and Eldred "Buddy" (Becky) Ode of Lake Park, MN; grandchildren: Jason (Michelle) McDonald, Janna Koestler, Joshua Koestler, Lauren Taylor, Chad Taylor, DeAnna Kvilvang, Katie Jane Kvilvang, and Jordan Kvilvang; and great-grandchildren: Addison McDonald, and Aiden McDonald.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 4-6pm Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel, and will continue Monday, April 7, 2014, from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Service at the Grace Lutheran Church in Hibbing. The Reverend Steve Breitbarth will officiate. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
