Shirley Mae "Babe" Mickle, age 59, of Soudan and formerly of Grand Rapids and Palisade, MN, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 in the Fairview University Medical Center – Mesabi in Hibbing. She was born October 12, 1949 in Grand Rapids the daughter of Floyd and Clara (Gustafson) Mickle. She graduated from Grand Rapids High School.
Shirley worked as a supervisor at Fortune Bay Casino. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Shirley loved to spend time with her grandson, enjoyed listening to books on tape, and was a Minnesota Vikings fan.
She is survived by her son: Corey (Kimberly Miller) Mickle of Soudan; her grandson: Trevor Mickle; her father: Floyd Mickle of Soudan; siblings: Marlene Stewart of Grafton, WI, Barbara (Steve) Rose of Hales Corners, WI, Cheryl "Gidget" (Ed) Brooks of Minneapolis, MN, Ron (Pat) Rebro of Pengilly, MN, LeRoy, (Ann) Mickle of Poplar, WI, Calvin (Linda) Mickle of Deer River, MN, Dwayne (Marianna) Mickle of Cleeburg, Germany, Mike (Priscilla) Mickle of Soudan, MN, and Darwin "Peanut" (Julie) Mickle of Tower, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Her mother, Clara, preceded her in death.
Shirley had arranged to donate her body to the Mayo Clinic.
A Memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, July 27, 2009 at 10:00 am in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tower. Pastor Aaron Lofgren will officiate.
