Sophie Dorothy Krize, age 98, longtime resident of Virginia and formerly of Fairbanks, AK, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, in the Virginia Convalescent Care Center. She was born June 6, 1915, in Biwabik, MN the daughter of Frank and Mary (Schriner) Pedric. She attended school in Biwabik, and was united in marriage to Frank S. Krize on July 25, 1933.
Sophie worked as a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and was a talented painter and seamstress.
Sophie is survived by her sons: Dennis (Patricia) Krize of Chisholm, MN, and Terrence (Edith) Krize of Chantilly, VA; her brother: Joseph (Betty) Pedric of Minneapolis, MN; sister-in-law: Julia Plesha of Virginia, MN; five grandchildren: Karen (Greg) Saarela of Lakeville, MN, Kim (Joe) Bohlke of Maple Grove, MN, Kathy (Jay) Schliesman of Lakeville, MN, Ted (Beth) Krize of Blaine, MN, and Scott Krize of Chantilly, VA; and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Frank in 2006; her brother: Frank; and her sisters: Angela "Nell", Mary, Kate, and Ann.
A private family Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia. The Rev. Fr. Michael Garry will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik.
