Thomas Charles Galatz, age 50 of West Eveleth, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015 at his home, with his caring staff by his side under the direction of the Essentia- East Range Hospice Team. He was born March 31, 1965 in Hibbing, the son of Thomas and Susan (Porter) Galatz. Tom retired from the East Range Developmental Achievement Center after 28 years of service, and attended the First Lutheran Church in Buhl. Some of his favorite times were spent outside at a lake, a park, or on the deck with the wind blowing. He enjoyed spending time with friends at dances, picnics, and parties. His most favorite past time was listening to music, especially when someone nearby was singing along.
Tom is survived by his father: Thomas K. Galatz of Hibbing; sisters: Julie Cuddy of Hamilton, AZ and Cindy Sabin of Eugene, OR; uncles and aunts: Jim Peroceschi of Hibbing, Jerry Peroceschi of Keewatin, Sam (Carol) Galatz of Hibbing, Louise Porter of Hamilton, AZ, Bonnie (Richard) Dilly of Hibbing, Donna Thellin of Hibbing, Mary (William) Suhonen of Hibbing, Eva (Al) Bement of Boise, ID, Laverne (William) Jones of Boise, ID, Rose (Harry) Teasley of Hibbing, Anne (Robert) Peroceschi of Hibbing, Charles Galatz of MO, Carol Galatz of Hibbing, and Norma Galatz of Grand Rapids; extended family and his housemates and friends from Lutheran Social Service of MN.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Susan Galatz, paternal grandparents: Louis and Marie Galatz; maternal grandparents: William and Sophie Porter; and uncles and aunt: Vern Galatz, George Galatz, Bill Galatz and Sonya Peroceschi.
A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Bauman Cron Funeral Home in Virginia. Judy Peliska will officiate.
