Thomas Joel Ray, age 70 of Eveleth died unexpectedly Saturday, September 15, 2018 in his home. He was born April 26, 1948 in Minneapolis, the son of Robert and Elaine (Wallerius) Ray. After High School Tom enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and served in Viet Nam. He was employed as a carpenter and later went to college to become a chemical dependency counselor. Tom moved to rural Eveleth and purchased a tree farm. He had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed hunting and fishing, wintered in Florida, and played bingo. Tom cherished his time spent with his children and grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his wife: Kelly; children: Ben (Shayna) Ray of Biwabik, Sarah (Dan) Curry of Minneapolis, Natalie (Shane) Solga of Superior, Gina (Josh) Muehlbauer of Bovey, and Emily (Monty) Ray of Duluth; siblings: Colleen (Jon) Burke of Utah, Paul Ray of Chaska, and Katie (Joan) Ray Watson of Arizona; grandchildren: Dylan, Jack, Sam, Mason, Asher, and Aida; extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Casual celebration of life for Tom will be held at at Camp Chicagami in Eveleth {3755 Scout Camp Rd.} on Saturday September 29, 2018 from 12 noon until 4:00 pm.
lnurnment with military honors will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
