Biography

Thomas Sidney "Tom" Vraa, age 52 of Embarrass died Friday, October 4, 2013 in the Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born January 27, 1961 in Thief River Falls, the son of Curtis and Delores (Stenvik) Vraa and was a 1979 graduate of Babbitt-Embarrass High School. Tom married Kathy Sue Boelk on November 29, 1980 and was a longtime Embarrass resident. He was employed as an electrician for the Virginia Public Utilities, was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Embarrass; and had retired from the Embarrass Volunteer Fire Department. He loved to watch his boys play sports; liked hunting and fishing; and spending time with family.
Tom is survived by his wife: Kathy Sue; sons: Jack Thomas Vraa and Carl George Vraa both of Embarrass; parents: Curtis and Laurie Vraa of Virginia; brothers: Steven (Joanie) Vraa of Embarrass, Neal (Nancy) Vraa of Red Lake Falls, Kevin Vraa of Embarrass, and Michael Vraa of Baudette; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; extended family; and friends including close friend: Jolene.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Bauman Cron Funeral Home in Virginia and will continue Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. Funeral in Hope Lutheran Church in Embarrass. Interment will take place in the Embarrass Cemetery.
