Tyler Jerome Birchem, age 30 of Virginia died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in his home. He was born November 13, 1987 in Virginia, the son of Jerry and LaRae (Wiirre) Birchem and was a graduate of Eveleth-Gilbert High School Class of 2006. Tyler loved fishing, hunting and all things outdoors. He especially loved spending time at the shack on Morcom Lake with his family and friends doing lots of four-wheeling. He most recently was employed by US Steel Minntac as a production Truck Driver; and prior to that he did logging with his father and brother. His real passion for was logging. He had many fond memories of growing up at Bass Lake where the boys in the neighborhood had many adventures. Tyler had a very kind and sensitive soul. He easily won the hearts of everyone.

Tyler is dearly loved and survived by his dad: Jerry (Janet Roskos) Birchem of Bovey; mom: LaRae (Karl) Hansen of Britt; brother: Troy Birchem of Markham; stepsiblings: Hunter Hansen and Brooke Mariucci; Grandparents: Arleen Birchem of Markham and LeRoy (Mary Ann) Wiirre of Buhl; aunts and uncles: John (Nancy Hill) Birchem, Jackie (Brad) Caron, Joel (Linda) Birchem, Jaimie (Tracie) Birchem, Duane (Pauline) Wiirre, Renee (Paul) McCarthy; Steve Shuster and Colleen Shuster; extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents: Douglas Michael Birchem and Marjorie (Heikkinen) Wiirre.

The Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at United in Christ Lutheran Church in Eveleth. Pastor John Dietz will officiate.
