William Robert Edward Folman, age 91 of Virginia died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in the Essentia Health Virginia Care Center. He was born April 4, 1926 in Virginia, and served in the United States Army in WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. He married Mildred Wiitala on March27, 1948 and they lived in Ridgewood and later in Midway. Bill was employed as a parts man for General Trading Company for almost 40 years. He was a longtime member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church, and a member of the Yoki-Bergman American Legion Post # 220 in Mountain Iron. Bill enjoyed working on cars, woodworking, and sitting on the deck at beautiful Lake Vermilion.

Bill is survived by children: Dale Folman of Gilbert, Julie (Roger) Keith of Zim, and Janet (Frank) Peterson of Virginia; grandchildren: Amy, Darren, Jennifer, Joslyn (Josh) and Jesreal; great-grandchildren: Elora, Alisa, Cierra, Ella, Hannah, Alex, Andrew, Corbin, Carter, Jordyn, Gavin, Kinsley, Mason, and Connor; siblings: Jack "Tuffy" (Sandy) LaBarre of Gilbert and Marlene Folman of Minneapolis; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Mildred in 1997; son Darryl; sisters: Louise and Kay "Peanut" and brothers: John, Archie, and Gerry.

The Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia. Pastor Nathan Sager will officiate. A gathering time for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Spring Inurnment will take place in the Embarrass Cemetery.
