William Arthur "Bill" Mattson, age 82 of Virginia and formerly of Aurora died unexpectedly of natural causes, on Friday, July 14, 2017 in his home. He was born September 8, 1934 in Biwabik, MN the son of Arne and Hilja (Paaso) Mattson. Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Janette Kilpela on April 13, 1957 in Zion Lutheran Church in Virginia. Bill was a longtime resident of Aurora and was employed as a surveyor for Hoover Construction. He was a member of the George and Mark Klobuchar VFW Post # 4456 in Gilbert; the Quayle-Shuster-Truman-Muhich American Legion Post # 241 in Aurora, and St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Palo.

Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janette; son: Mark (Domonie) Mattson of Rockwall, TX; brother: Gerald (Betty) Mattson of Aurora; grandchildren: Lyyli, Cody, and Danielle; extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home. Pastor Nathan Sager will officiate. A gathering time for family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m.
