Ann D. Sotzsky, age 99, of Hibbing and formerly of Washington, DC, and Maryland, died Thursday, October 12, 2023, in her home with family at her side. She was born April 1, 1924, in Chisholm, MN, the daughter of Louis and Katherine (Juliani) Zeni. She was a graduate of Hibbing High School. Ann was united in marriage to Benjamin “Bernard” Sotzsky on June 12, 1948, in Washington, DC.
Ann worked as a homemaker, was a secretary at the Pentagon, and an office clerk at the University of Maryland. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crafts, sewing, cooking, and baking, and traveling. She was a loving mom and grandma to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Ann is survived by her sons: Arthur Sotzsky and Steven (Barbara) Sotzsky, both of Hibbing; and her brother-in-law: Herschel Sotzsky of Florida; grandchildren: Lori (Ed) Joy, and Tammy (Rick) Richardson, Steven T. Sotzsky, Kevin (Stephanie Ellefson) Sotzsky, Joshua Sotzsky, Katie Sotzsky and Michael Warpula; great-grandchildren: Hailey, Connor, Justus, Tyler, Kingston, Gavin, Skyler, Jack, Jenna, Brianna, and one “on-the-way.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Bernard (2016); son: Thomas Sotzsky; sisters: Alice Tafoya, and Louise Blazina; brothers: Arthur Zeni, and Joseph Zeni; daughter-in-law: Mary Sotzsky.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial Service Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the Hibbing Alliance Church. The Reverend Kevin L. Norton will be the officiant. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Maple Hill Cemetery. The service will be broadcast live on the Hibbing Alliance Church Facebook and YouTube pages for those who cannot attend.
