Arthur Mathew Hill, age 85, longtime resident of Hibbing, died Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Heritage Manor in Chisholm.  He was born December 6, 1938, in Hibbing, the son of Mathew and Mildred (Falbo) Hill.  He was a graduate of Keewatin High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Bemidji State University.  Art was united in marriage to Patricia Mae Damjanovich on November 24, 1959.

            Art was the Band Director at Hibbing High School from 1965 to 1996.  He was named Titan of Taconite in 2004.  He was a member of the Algonquin Club, Hibbing Curling Club, Loyal Order of the Elks, Hibbing Retrievers Club, Hibbing City Band, and the Sentimental Journey Dance Band.  He enjoyed writing marching band arrangements and field shows, hunting, fishing, and breeding, training, and judging Labrador Retrievers for hunting.

            Art is survived by his wife: Patricia; children: David Hill of Hibbing, MN, and Mary (Dave) Stone of Apple Valley, MN; siblings: Joyce (Terry) Backstrom of Hibbing, MN, Janet (Tom) Shinderle of Hibbing, MN, and Esley (Debbie) Hill of Nashwauk, MN; granddaughter: Riley M. Stone of Falcon Heights, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

            Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing.  Inurnment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
